Born in Santiago, Chile, in a family of well known musicians, Edith Fischer began her musical studies with her mother.

Her many performances as a child in recitals and chamber music, were crowned by playing, at the age of twelve, Mozart Concerto K.453 under Hermann Scherchen.

The enthusiastic recommendations of great artists like Ormandy, Busch and Kleiber, resulted in her being awarded an American scholarship to study in New York, where she became one of the very few pupils acknowledged by Claudio Arrau in the book "Conversations with Arrau".

Shortly after her arrival in Europe, she was granted the Dinu Lipatti Prize in London and later won the Munich International Competition. Since then, she has played as soloist with renown orchestras and conductors, recitals and chamber music, also on radio and television in most European countries, North and South America, Japan, India and Israel.
